Tomas Boiton designs and implements transportation programs with an emphasis on serving seniors, veterans, children at risk, the low income, and the mentally and physically disabled. In 2008 Tomas founded the nonprofit "Citizens for Improved Transit" www.Citizens4Transit.org to advocate for the development of communities that promote walking, biking and mass transit.
Tomas has a federal grant to be the Mobility Manager for Palm Beach County and works with many nonprofits. Some of the transportation programs Tomas has designed and implemented include "The Vital Transportation Program" for the Children's Services Council of Palm Beach County to ensure pregnant woman and families with small children have access to medical appointments. For the Volen Community Center he designed "The LIFT" program a nonprofit transportation service for seniors and the disabled offering $5 rides which currently provides over 750 trips a month. For The Area Agency on Aging he designed an informational brochure in three languages to promote the different transportation options and discounts available to seniors. For the Center for Independent Living Options (CILO) Tomas created and runs a voucher program so mentally and physically disabled individuals have access to transportation on holidays, nights, and weekends when the county's transportation system does not operate.
Tomas has been a board member of the Palm Tran Service Board which oversees the county's bus and paratransit services. Tomas currently is vice-chair of the county's Transportation Local Coordinating Board, a board member of the county's Para-Transit committee, Palm Tran's Bus Pass Subcommittee, and sits on the Metropolitan Planning Organization and Tri-Rail's Citizens Advisory Boards, in addition to many other transportation boards.
Some of Tomas' accomplishments outside of transportation include being a board member for the nonprofit Family Promise and advisory board member for the Arthur R. Marshall Foundation. Tomas received the Quantum Foundations 2012 "Young Change Leader" award, was an Olympic Torch bearer, received the key to the city of West palm Beach, has volunteered for 6 years at the Grassy Water's Nature Preserve taking children canoeing, and has participated in Leadership Palm Beach County, Leadership West Palm Beach, and Leadership Glades.
