Rhonda B. Clinton

I am honored to serve as the founding Executive Director of the North/Central Palm Beach County affiliate of Family Promise. I am inspired by the individuals in our community who had the vision and tenacity to see this important mission come to life.
Family Promise, along with dedicated hosting and supporting congregations of all faiths from Lake Worth to Tequesta, will work together to empower and support children and families who are facing homelessness. These precious children in our local school district will be surrounded by effective partner agencies in our community, an outstanding board of directors, visionary founders who will keep us true to our mission, and generous individuals, foundations and corporations who have a stake in their successful outcomes.
Believing that every child deserves a home, we will empower and restore lives….one child, one family at a time. Together!

BECAUSE EVERY CHILD DESERVES A HOME… child

Welcome to Family Promise of North Central Palm Beach County!

Family Promise is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to helping homeless families in our community regain their independence. We invite you to learn more about us and perhaps endeavor to help us in our mission. All donations to Family Promise are tax deductible.

DID YOU KNOW?

The average age of a homeless person is nine years old.

Recent estimates state that 1 in 50 children in the United States are homeless.

Poverty, lack of affordable housing, sky rocketing healthcare costs and insufficient low cost daycare are the primary contributors to family homelessness.

In Palm Beach County, there are nearly 2000 homeless children registered in Palm Beach County Schools.

Other programs in our community are not able to meet the increasing demand for services.

Many of these families are sleeping in local parks or living in their cars.

People come to Family Promise because there is nowhere else to go.

Volunteer with childA mother loses her job, a father is kept from working by an injury, a family is forced from their home by fire or natural disaster. Healthcare costs soar, public transportation is underfunded, affordable housing is almost impossible to find. These are the reasons why families now make up 40 percent of the homeless population, and why one out of every four homeless people is a child.

In response to this crisis, the Family Promise partnership brings the faith community together to help families regain their housing, their independence, and their dignity. Family Promise is a partnership of congregations within a community helping families who are facing homelessness. It offers an opportunity for volunteers of all faiths to reduce homelessness and transform lives.

Family Promise affiliates are currently operating in 41 states and the District of Columbia, in large cities, suburbs, and rural counties. They mobilize community resources: houses of worship for lodging, congregations for volunteers, social service agencies for assessment and referrals, and existing facilities for day programs. This strategy enables networks to help homeless families achieve lasting independence at a third of the cost of traditional shelters.

Nationally, 80 percent of the families that Family Promise serve go on to long-term housing. Family Promise affiliates have served more than 50,000 children and adults and involved more than 150,000 volunteers in 5,000 congregations.

father and daughterHosting and Supporting Congregations
Hosting rotates among the host congregations in our network. During a hosting week, the congregations provides food, hospitality, and lodging at the congregation to the families (guests) in the program. Supporting congregations provide volunteers, financial, and other support.

Day Center
During the day, guests use the Family Promise Day Center. Guests are provided transportation between the Day Center and the host congregations. The Day Center is the guests' home base. It provides them with a mailing address, phone service, and computer access to enable guests to find housing and employment.

Case managers and guests work together at the Day Center. Together they support the guest's steps toward self-reliance and establish the goals and strategies needed to achieve sustained independence.

Volunteers
Volunteers are the heart of the program. Volunteers prepare meals, provide hospitality and transportation as well as staff the Day Center, help guests find jobs and housing and share their specialized skills, such as resume writing, financial planning and parenting.

Social Service Agencies
Family Promise collaborates with other service providers to help our guests obtain housing, job mentoring, counseling and social and health services.
